Our Story
Mountain Breeze Farm sits in an interval at the foot of the White Mountains. It is owned and run by Ryan Milbury and Jessica Magee. Ryan’s grandfather purchased the farm upon returning from the Korean Conflict. He raised a family, along with Devon cattle and about 300 piglets each spring. Ryan's great grandfather tapped the maple orchard on a neighboring property, which has now grown to over 1000 taps. The properties were combined to bring together the almost 300 acres of forest, pasture and field which is the farm of today. Most of that property is now protected in an agricultural Conservation Easement. The farm primarily raises Black Angus cattle, but has several Belted Galloway cows. The cattle are grass fed and finished when the season allows and fed hay from the farm and other local fields during the off season. The pigs are cross bred and raised to provide the best quality bacon and other pork products.
Ryan graduated from college with a dual master's degree in architecture and construction management and works part time offering architectural services. But he can sit at a computer for only so long when the need to be outside, on the tractor or working with the animals takes over.
Jessica graduated with a master's degree in nursing and works in a hospital inpatient setting. Her skills as a nurse have certainly come in handy on the farm and in the care of the animals.
Ryan's initial intent was to run the farm to provide food for the family following his grandfathers' heart attacks. But as more people in the community have become more aware of how food is produced and distributed, they realize the benefit of buying local which has led to an increased need for local meats. The farm has slowly grown over the years and expanded to provide products for several farmers markets and other farm stands. New this year will be our on-line store. We welcome input and suggestions as we continue to grow and try new ideas.
